OUR special anniversary supplement has hopefully given readers a taste of just some of the key events which the Herald has covered over the last 120 years - there were countless more which we did not have room to include.
But it proves without doubt that - as now - the Herald has always been a vital part of the local community - informing, entertaining and speaking out when necessary on behalf of our readers.
New technology has seen many major changes to the way newspapers are produced, as we explained on the second page of this supplement.
But, like the community we serve, we have successfully come through these changes and are ideally placed and enthusiastic to face the many challenges that lie ahead.
The Herald would like to thank East Dunbartonshire Libraries staff - in particular Don Martin - for their assistance in preparing the articles in this special supplement.
We would also like to thank them for the use of photographs fromtheir extensive collection.
