Have your say on the hot topics in East Dunbartonshire

WHAT are your views on the burning issues this week...

Top talking points for Wednesday, March 3, 2010, are:

* Is community safety being sacrificed to save cash? East Dunbartonshire Council is slashing back on community support officers - who deal with issues such as vandalism and dog fouling - to plough into front-line services. Cuts have to be made, but is this a step too far?

* Mobile library van services are also being axed to save on running costs - even though it may cost more to scrap the service due to leasing agreements than will be saved. East Dunbartonshire Council admits it doesn't know how much will be saved...

* Pest controllers have been called into schools amid reports of rats and mice. How clean is your local school? Are you happy with the education your child receives?

* Should we pull out the stops to fund events such as Kirkintilloch Canal Festival or is the economic climate too tight to fritter away money on issues such as hanging baskets and Christmas lights?

* Should chemotherapy services be provided at the new Stobhill Hospital? Patients have been calling for localised services, amid concerns over the strain of regularly travelling to the Beatson. What's your view?
