Mark’s aiming to be a star on trek to raise funds in memory of loved one

A DETERMINED teenager is gearing up to trek the Great Wall of China in memory of his gran.

The sponsored nine-day walk will give 18-year-old Mark O’Neill the chance to raise vital funds for Marie Curie Cancer Care. To date he has raised more than £3,800 for the Glasgow hospice.

Mark will be holding a coffee morning and mini-craft fair on Friday, June 1, in Holy Family and St Ninian’s Church Hall, Kirkintilloch, from 10am to 1pm.

Mark, from Milton of Campsie, said Marie Curie Cancer Care provided great support during and after the death of his gran, Grace O’Neill.

He added: “It is fantastic being able to give something back to Marie Curie Cancer Care for the fantastic service they provided to my nana and for the vital services they provide to those at the end of life.”

Tickets for the event cost £2 and can be purchased at the door. If you would like to contribute home-baking or provide a donation for the raffle, contact Mark on 07411 927 845.

You can also donate to the charity via Mark’s page www.justgiving.com/marksgwoctrek.
