FAMILIES flocked to the historic Kirkintilloch Agricultural Show on Saturday.

Hundreds of people headed for the popular event – now in its 152nd year – at Crofthead Showfield, Bishopbriggs, despite the threat of rain.

There was plenty for all the family with a classic cars and tractors display, a pipe band, dancing display, birds of prey and small pet and dog show classes.

There was also a dog display, as well as horse and pony events.

Strathkelvin and Bearsden MSP Fiona McLeod and Bishopbriggs and Torrance councillor Anne McNair presented the Champions of Champions awards.

Janis Morrison, from Kirkintilloch and District Agricultural Society which organised the event, said: “Overall the show went well despite the weather. There was a big increase of poultry and sheep and a lot of people came to the dog show. The Industrial Section for kids was also popular.

“One of these days we will get really nice weather which will make up for all the rain we’ve had!

“Thanks go to everyone who supported the event.”
