THREE award-winning film makers are preparing to shoot their second feature film - and they’re looking for YOUR help.

Director Graham Hughes and writers Keith Grantham and Graeme McGeagh won a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award for their debut feature last year.

‘The Big Slick’ was set in and around the trio’s home town of Kirkintilloch and made for just £200.

Now they’ve written their next script and are hoping to raise £3,000 through crowdfunding website sponsume.com to take ‘A Practical Guide to a Spectacular Suicide’ from the page to the silver screen.

Director Graham said: “‘The Big Slick’ came across as a well made feature-length student film, complete with the one-man crew, and poor sound and visual quality.

“Now that we have the confidence that we can logistically make a feature film we are ready to expand and invest.

“With a professional crew and a little money to throw around we will remedy these mistakes and make ‘Practical Guide’ a slick, professional-looking film.

“We have already made a BAFTA-winning feature film for £200. What do you think we could do with £3,000?”

The film will be a dark comedy following self-destructive lead character Tom, who is looking to create the spectacular suicide of the title.

Co-writer Graeme hopes the film, which will once again be mainly set in Kirkintilloch, will create further opportunities in the notoriously tough-to-crack movie industry.

He said: “We’re hoping to start in February 2013 and get it finished as quickly as possible to keep the cost down.

“Even though we won a BAFTA for our last film we didn’t get it into many film festivals.

“Getting into the Edinburgh or Glasgow Film Festival would be the dream - just to get more people seeing it.

“It’s all about exposure and if the right people get to see it then who knows what will happen.”

People who finance the film are being offered a whole range of rewards, from hand-drawn postcards to having the chance to appear in the film.
