AN amazing £28,430 has been raised by talented singers and musicians during a show-stopping performance at their 10th anniversary concert.

Springfield Cambridge Festival Chorus and Orchestra put on their Celebrate! The 10th Anniversary Concert at Christmas in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.

It was a sell-out show with 2,400 people enjoying the impressive performance.

The group was led by musical director and conductor Alan A. Craig. The event brings the grand total raised for the charity CHAS over 11 concerts to an impressive £160,000.

The majority of the musicians and singers come from churches in Bishopbriggs and surrounding area.

Mike Walker, from the Springfield Cambridge Festival Choir and Chorus, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the amount raised for CHAS.

“The audience participates in the carol singing and it really puts the ‘C’ into Christmas.

“We didn’t realise at the beginning that we would reach the stage we are at now.

“We started in our own church at Springfield Cambridge and have moved on to bigger venues.

“It was a great joy to walk onto the stage to see every seat taken. Support has come from the local community and without the business community getting behind us we would not have got it off the ground. They are wonderful.”
