A CELEBRATED film and television costume designer has promised to bring a little Hollywood sparkle to an independent movie.

Karen Keech Swerling, who has worked with some of the top names in showbiz, recently travelled from the US to Bishopbriggs to meet indie film-maker Frank McGowan of Bad Pony Productions.

Frank had initially contacted Karen in 2004 to discuss her work on classic television series ‘The Munsters’ and the pair quickly became firm friends.

Now Karen, who has worked alongside Muppets creator Jim Henson and singing legend David Bowie, has agreed to get involved in the BAFTA-nominated director’s most recent project – an all-Scottish zombie flick called ‘Evening of the Dead’, set for release next year.

Frank, who said he was “star-struck” when he finally met Karen, said: “I’m just so gobsmacked she said ‘yes’ to working on my feature.”
