HIP hop, scrummy cakes, family fun, a roller girl for the day and a night with Frank Sinatra – just some of the ways you can help Scotland’s top skaters fly the flag in America next month.

Glasgow Roller Derby (GRD) is raising funds to help send its A-team – the Irn Bruisers – to compete in a prestigious tournament . . . the annual East Coast Derby Extravaganza in Pennsylvania from June 28-30.

It’s an amazing chance for the Bruisers – currently ranked fourth in Europe – to put Glasgow and Scotland on the map by blazing a trail across the Atlantic.

The GRD army has been hard at work to raise the necessary funds for the trip and there are some great chances for you to get involved.

Special club nights are being held in Glasgow this month and an auction is currently underway on the GRD website, featuring some very special lots.

They include:

* High tea for two at the amazing Café Phoenix, Glasgow

* A signed Partick Thistle football, courtesy of the First Division champions

* Three hours of expert maths tuition – get a head start on Standard Grade/Higher/SYS maths

* The chance to hire a derby girl for the day

* Two hours of blooming marvellous gardening work

* 24 delicious Cookie Monster cup cakes

* A customised Derby Doll courtesy of the GRD’s artist-in-residence, Lucky Hateball

* A children’s party courtesy of Pick ‘n’ Mix Parties – allsorts of fun for your little sweeties (visit www.pick-n-mixparties.co.uk)

* Tickets for Rat Pack Live at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (May 31)

* Two family tickets for the Sealife Centre at Loch Lomond

* Rock CDs/DVDs

Meanwhile, head on down to The Flying Duck for a night of hip-hop and gangsta rap with The Notorious B.A.G. in partnership with Glasgow Roller Derby, on Friday, May 24. All proceeds on the night will go toward the ECDX fund.

Entry is £3 on the door or in advance at http://glasgowrollerderby.com/content/harsh-tug-fundraiser

And on Friday, May 31, head to Nice and Sleazy’s in Glasgow for a fundraising night of music with attitude – presented by GRD’s resident DJ duo SummerSlams - with a set from Glasgow’s very own electronic/grime artist Patricia Panther.

Volunteers have already raised almost £1,000 by packing bags, selling merchandise and more.

A GRD spokesperson said: “This is an amazing opportunity for the GRD to shine in the States, but we need to get our girls there – and that’s where you come in.

“We hope to see you along at the club nights on May 24 and 31 - dancing and good times guaranteed - and please take a look at the auction on the GRD website. There’s something there for everyone and every penny will go towards the ECDX.

“And remember, there is still time for corporate sponsors to get involved. Help us fly the flag for Scotland and we will fly the flag for your firm – home and away!”
