WHIZZKIDS are being recruited in East Dunbartonshire to help open up the world of console games to people young and old.

So whether you’re a wizard at Warcraft, fabulous at Fifa or leading the way on Lego Lord of the Rings – leisure chiefs want you to show off your skills and share the secrets of your success.

The recruitment drive coincides with news that the console game-lending service at William Patrick Library in Kirkintilloch is being extended out to libraries including Bishopbriggs and Lennoxtown.

East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Culture Trust (EDLC) is looking for volunteer Gaming Experts (GEs) to help people of all ages enjoy gaming sessions and inter-library tournaments.

Anyone interested in becoming a GE should contact the children and families team on 0141 777 3036.

Speaking about the roll-out of the new gaming services, EDLC chairman Stewart MacDonald said: “I am delighted that we have been able to extend our gaming facilities to more libraries in East Dunbartonshire.

“Gaming is an extremely popular leisure activity.”

He added: “I’d like to remind people that it is an activity open to everyone, so even if you haven’t had any experience of gaming before, our GE recruits will be on hand to help people get started.”
