A TALENTED musician is hoping to strum up a storm after reaching the next stage of a national competition.
Bishopbriggs Ceilidh Band member Lauren McFarlane (18) beat thousands of hopefuls to reach the regional finals of the Open Mic UK competition with her rendition of Bob Dylan’s ‘Don’t Think Twice’ earlier this month.
The Bishopbriggs music school pupil, who sings and plays acoustic guitar, will now perform at the Newcastle regional final next month and could win a £50,000 recording contract.
Lauren is the second Bishopbriggs Ceilidh Band member to reach the competition’s regional finals.
She said: “This is the first time I’ve done anything like this and I was quite surprised to get through.
“I would love to make a career out of music.
“It has always been a dream and I am hoping I can get to the next stage of the competition.”
