Tennis aces are courting success thanks to club!

YOUNGSTERS are being offered the chance to raise a racket and beat the winter blues.

Bishopbriggs Tennis Club has set up a Junior Winter Programme at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre for members/non-members to introduce more juniors into the game.

Youngsters at Lairdsland Primary in Kirkintilloch completed a four-week block with club coach Allwyn Crawford.

Children in the P4 class received a certificate for taking part and six children who showed special skill were awarded medals.

Allwyn currently works with seven local schools, providing inspiration on the courts.

A spokesperson said: “Lairdsland Primary are grateful to Allwyn for giving up her time to work with the children and look forward to developing the link with Bishopbriggs Tennis Club in the future.”

Club coach Allwyn is keen to hear from local juniors interested in taking up tennis after the new season begins on March 31.

The sessions of mini-tennis have proven popular and more are being held in the coming weeks.
