It’s as traditional as fish and chips but a lot more healthy for you - A trip ‘Doon The Watter’ on the much loved Waverley paddle steamer.

On Fair Friday (July 15) the Waverley will set off from Glasgow Science Centre to Dunoon and Rothesay with kids going free with one adult.

This is a great way to start the holiday in style sailing down the river Clyde and watching the sun set over Dunoon whilst enjoying live music. A restaurant and bars are open all evening.

On Saturday or Sunday you can sail to Rothesay or sail through the Kyles of Bute to Tighnabruaich. On Sunday you can continue your cruise on Loch Long. And on Monday there are sailing to Rothesay, Largs, Millport or Lochranza.

Ross Cochrane, Waverley’s Captain said: “The Glasgow Fair holiday dates back to the 12th Century and from the 1800s the fair itself was held on Glasgow Green. Many families used this time to take a holiday, which many spent by taking a Paddle Steamer on the Firth of Clyde to visit Rothesay. Waverley carries on this tradition today and has a weekend packed full of sailings for you to enjoy. We hope to see you onboard.”

Waverley has excellent onboard facilities including a restaurant serving hot and cold snacks, two bars, heated lounges, engine room & paddle wheel viewing gallery and a souvenir shop.
