It’s all added up for Gartcosh woman Michelle Halligan who has won the Young Accountant of the Year award.
The Scottish Accountancy Awards saw Scotland’s accounting and finance stars praised for their achievements.
Michelle (30) qualified as a Chartered Tax Advisor in January of this year. She graduated with a Law degree from University of Glasgow and went on to train in taxation with a firm in Edinburgh in 2005 before moving to French Duncan in Glasgow in 2008.
She has spent most of her time working in corporation tax but also has an interest in VAT and other indirect taxes and has decided to specialise in that route.
Michelle said: “Winning was brilliant. I genuinely didn’t expect to and I feel honoured to be recognised amongst Scotland’s finance community.
“I think it is a compliment to the tax partner at French Duncan and others who have been an incredible support and given me an opportunity to be involved in some really interesting and complex cases.”
Michelle is pictured with Myriam Madden, vice president of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), which sponsored the award.
