Council Tax payment changes in North Lanarkshire

From next month North Lanarkshire Council is changing the payment date for Council Tax.

But the change only applies to residents who pay by debit and credit cards, cash or cheque.

The new due date is the first of each month from April until January, 10 monthly instalments.

However, residents who opt to pay by Direct Debit can choose to pay on one of four dates: the 7th, 14th, 21st or 28th

of the month, which may assist with monthly budgeting.

Head of Financial Services Paul Hughes said: “Collecting Council Tax is vital to the services we provide and we have to be as efficient as possible.

“Direct Debit is by far the most efficient and cost effective method for the council to collect payments and it is the simplest for residents too.

“Direct debits can be set up over the phone by calling 0800 163491 or downloading and completing the form from the council website at northlanarkshire.gov.uk.”

Anyone facing difficulties making their Council Tax payments on time should contact their local Council Tax office as soon as possible. Contact details are on the council website.
