Eastwood Boys claim piping glory at Stamperland

THE Glasgow Battalion Boys’ Brigade hosted its annual pipe band competition at Stamperland Church recently — and Eastwood boys were among the winners.

Bands from across the country competed in the event — sponsored by Wallace Bagpipes — and the Eastwood-based 145th Glasgow Company claimed first in the trio piping contest, second in the mini band and third in the pipe band contest.

Adjudicator Stuart Black — and ex-member of 128th Glasgow — commented: “I was really impressed by the enthusiasm shown by all the youngsters.

“The standard was high and it was a very close contest, making it extremely difficult to judge.”

The 145th company now have their sights set on silverware at the Dundee and Angus Battalion contest, which takes place on March
22.
