Back to the Barras for a blether and a bop

GO on then, tell us — are ye dancing? If your automatic reply was are ye asking? then the Shed’s latest show may be just the ticket for you.

The lunchtime Live @ the Shed slot has been running since August last year — with a variety of variety acts organised by Tram Direct in the hope of bringing all generations back to the Shawlands nightclub (once the esteemed Marlborough Ballroom).

The action takes place in the refurbished blue ballroom, complete with a modern mural of Glasgow — and it’s as fitting as ever this week, as Live @ the Shed delves back into the city’s recent past, and another iconic nightspot you’ll know and love.

You guessed it: the show is A Blether and a Bop at the Barrowland and it’s a trip back to the Gallowgate ballroom’s heyday, where many a couple fell in love over a cheeky jive or a quickstep.

Audiences are invited to join Janette and Pat as they meet at the Barras — and love at first sight must exist after all, because these two fancy each other rotten.

The big question on everyone’s lips (not least those belonging to Pat and Janette) is...will they get a winch?

Par for the course with the Live lunchtime series, it’s a nostaglic trip down memory lane, with a few songs and a jive thrown in for good measure.
