THE green light has been given for the construction of new £200,000 village sports pavilion.

The project, to replace the dilapidated High Park Pavilion in Lennoxtown’s North Birbiston Road, was approved at last week’s meeting of East Dunbartonshire Council’s planning board.

As well as the new building, the development will create six new parking bays, with one being a disabled space.

Grace Irvine, the council’s head of assets and property services, said: “All design work has been completed and tenders received from potential contractors for the manufacture and erecting of the changing facility at High Park. Once the tenders have been evaluated and a suitable contractor is selected, we will be in a better position to establish lead in times for the manufacture of the unit and site start date.”

She added: “We aim to achieve a start date prior to the Christmas period with completion anticipated early in the New Year.”
