RESIDENTS are being given the chance to find out more about plans for new housing on a site in Lenzie . . . and have a say.

A public exhibition was held recently on Taylor Wimpey’s proposals for land at McGavigans Field.

Visitors were able to view plans and comment on the housebuilder’s scheme for around 40 new homes – on May 7 at Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre.

The proposal aims to offer a broad mix of two, three, four and five-bedroom family homes, and includes an element of affordable homes.

Taylor Wimpey has welcomed the opportunity to consult the local community and will now consider their views as final proposals for this development are drawn up.

Allan Macdonald, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey West Scotland, said: “We were delighted to see that an encouraging number of local people took the time to visit the exhibition and to let us know what they think of our proposals.

“Public exhibitions are an excellent way for Taylor Wimpey to engage at an early stage with the community in which it intends to deliver new developments and our team involved in the Woodilee development in Lenzie has received an overall positive reaction to the proposals.

“It is our intention to review all the feedback that we’ve received at this event in order to inform our design, prior to submitting a planning application to East Dunbartonshire Council following conclusion of the community consultation process.

“However, if people haven’t yet provided us with feedback they still have time to do so.”

Further information on the proposal is available from Ian Gallacher, GVA, 206 St Vincent Street, G2 5SG or ian.gallacher@gva.co.uk or call 0141 305 6301.

And anyone wishing to provide feedback can do so until 7 June, 2013 after which the proposals will be finalised and lodged with East Dunbartonshire Council.
