More than 80 pupils from East Dunbartonshire schools swam their hearts out at The Leisuredrome in Bishopbriggs recently to bid for glory.
The youngsters competed in a number of heats for places at the Scottish Schools’ Swimming Championships early next year.
Hopes are high that many of the local youngsters will have made the cut to compete at the awards at Aberdeen Sports Village in January.
Results from heats being held across the country will be compiled and the fastest times revealed nearer the time.
Councillor Alan Moir, chairman of the East Dunbartonshire Development and Regeneration Committee, congratulated all the young swimmers.
He said: “Well done to all the youngsters who took part in the heats.
“They really gave it their all and should be very proud of their performance regardless of whether they go through to the championships or not.
Scott Hill, chairman of East Dunbartonshire Leisure and Cultural Trust said: “It really is heartening to see so many of our young people getting involved in this great sport.
“ Swimming is a tremendous way to keep fit and it really is a sport which is open to all.
“We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed that East Dunbartonshire will be represented at the Scottish Championships.”
