A CONCERNED parent has urged drivers not to park their cars on the pavement outside a primary school in Lenzie.
Mike Haseler says cars are being parked on pavements in Oak Drive, outside Lenzie Moss Primary School, as parents wait to pick up their children.

On one occasion recently, Mr Haseler witnessed mothers having to push prams onto the road due to a 4x4 vehicle blocking the pavement.

Mr Haseler said: "I'm becoming increasingly concerned at the number of cars now parking on the pavements around this area. This is a real safety issue.

"The highway code is very clear that this is illegal parking.

"As someone who only a few years ago regularly had to negotiate pavements cluttered with cars and bins while pushing a pram, I know how frustrating and dangerous such parking can be.

"Outside a school you have to be extra careful."

He added: "Recently, a 4x4 was parked immediately next to a T-junction between Oak Drive and Juniper Court. It created a serious hazard to both pedestrians crossing Juniper Court and to vehicles trying to navigate this junction.

"Cars parked on pavements make it impossible for young children to see oncoming cars."

A police spokesperson said the matter was being investigated.
He added: "Parking on a pavement becomes illegal if it causes an obstruction."
