THE aroma of fresh flowers will be in the air this weekend as two marvellous flower shows open their petals to patrons.
The annual Campsie Flower Show will be held this Sunday, from 2-4pm, at Campsie Town Hall, Lennoxtown.

Colin Barrie, from Caulders Garden Centre, will open the show and present the prizegiving at 2.30pm.

There will be a number of classes for old and young – covering flowers, vegetables, baking, handicrafts and floral art.

Anybody wishing to exhibit should bring entries to the town hall on Saturday from 6.30-9pm or on Sunday morning from 7-9.45am. There will be help for first-time exhibitors.

There will be the chance to enjoy afternoon tea, win prizes with a tombola and buy exhibited flowers.

Full schedules are available from local garden centres or from Lennoxtown Library.

Meanwhile, the 123rd Chryston Horticultural Society Show will be held in Muirhead Public Hall on Saturday at 2pm.

The show will be opened by Councillor Frances McGlinchey.

The show also involves the presentation of prizes for an inter-primary school potato-growing competition sponsored by Dobbies Garden Centres.
There will also be a tea room, tombola, raffle and sale of flowers and produce.
