THE Kirkintilloch Herald Series annual garden competition was launched this week and green-fingered residents are being urged to enter.
The Herald has once again joined forces with the experts at Caulders Garden Centre, in Kilsyth Road, Kirkintilloch, and Kirkintilloch Horticultural Society to stage the popular competition.

The 2008 contest looks set to be the best yet, with a number of great prizes up for grabs.

Errol Burchell, president of Kirkintilloch Horticultural Society, said: "Having accompanied the judge during the last two years, I have been very impressed by the amount of effort and presentation that has gone into preparing the gardens.

"I hope that this year the entries will be just as good and I look forward to seeing them."

Caulders Garden Centre boss Colin Barrie said: "The Herald's garden competition is always a popular event and we're happy to be involved once again.

"There are lots of lovely gardens in the area and I'm sure the competition will get a good response."

To enter, all you have to do is complete the coupon in the latest edition of the Kirkintilloch/Bishopbriggs or Springburn Herald and send it to: Garden Competition, Herald Series, 11 Dalrymple Court, Kirkintilloch G66 3AA.

Once all the entries have been received, a judge will call round to look at your garden before the final selection.

The ten best gardens will be chosen and visited again, before the top three are picked.

The closing date for entries is August 15.
