A Kirkintilloch man has been appointed president of Dunbartonshire Chamber of Commerce.
Robert Wilson, who owns a painting and decorating company, said: "I am absolutely delighted to be president and consider it to be the pinnacle of my business life.

"I will be looking to build on the fantastic relationships we have with local authorities and businesses in the community."

Mr Wilson is also keen to use his role to build up membership in East Dunbartonshire and says that the chamber has much to offer.

He added: "The Chamber of Commerce is going from strength to strength and there are exciting times ahead."

The appointment was made at the group's recent AGM when it was also announced that Kirkintilloch businessman Lex Gaston would be standing down as a director.

Mr Gaston said: "I decided that I would not seek re-election as I think it is important to keep appointing new directors. However, I will still be involved with the chamber's Business for Kirkintilloch initiative."
