PET owners have been warned to be on their guard after a second animal was poisoned in the space of a month.

In June the Herald revealed a pet dog called Lenny had died after eating poison in Kirkintilloch's Woodhead Park.

Last week a second life was claimed when Sooty, a nine-month-old cat, was poisoned in nearby Crosshill Avenue.

Lisa Somerville, who bought Sooty for her seven-year-old daughter's Christmas, is devastated, particularly since her pet gave birth to four kittens just two weeks ago.

See this week's Herald for the full story.
