MEET the Herald's Young Writer of the Year for 2009.
Bishopbriggs youngster Sean McInally had plenty to celebrate last week.
The P7 St Matthew's Primary School pupil scooped the top prize in the Herald's Young Writer of the Year contest.
The theme for this year's competition was Community.
In a very close contest, Sean (11) was the judges' choice with his report on a community-led campaign to block plans to build houses on a piece of land used by youngsters as a play area.
Runners-up in the competition were Frances Glancy, a pupil at Holy Family Primary (Lenzie) and Lydia Jane Roy, a pupil at Wester Cleddens Primary (Bishopbriggs).
Herald Editor Jim Holland said: "I would like to thank all the pupils who took part in the Kirkintilloch Herald Series Young Writer of the Year contest.
"The judges had a difficult task when it came to selecting the winner and runners-up.
"It really was a very close contest."
As our winner, Sean received the Young Writer of the Year trophy, which he keeps, and a £10 gift voucher .
Also as part of his prize, Sean will get the chance to join the Herald's news team for a day.
Frances and Lydia Jane each received a £10 gift voucher.
You can read Sean's article in this week's Herald.
