IT was a real result for clubs in Kirkintilloch, Bishopbriggs and beyond at a special prize draw.

A host of associations secured £500 each at a special event in East Dunbartonshire Council HQ in Kirkintilloch.

A cash pot of £6,500 was divided up in a draw by Depute Provost Anne Jarvis.

A total of 33 East Dunbartonshire clubs attended and the lucky ones included:

* Allan Glen's Rugby Academy, Bishopbriggs
* Antonine Athletic Football Club (St Ninian's – Thomas Muir campus)
* Kirkintilloch and Campsie Pony Club
* Kirkintilloch and Kilsyth Amateur Swimming Club
* Kirkintilloch Golf Club
* Kirkintilloch Olympians
* Lenzie Youth Club
* Waterside Amateurs Football Club, Kirkintilloch

Councillor Jarvis said: "Thanks to everyone who organised the sports dinner and the sponsors for their contributions earlier this year.

"This raised the money which we have now been able to pass to local groups. We felt the fairest way to divide up the cash awards was through a prize draw.

"It was a great opportunity to get the groups together for an evening and to hear about their efforts and successes over the last year."

She added: "It is important that we show our appreciation for the hard-working people who run these clubs and show our support for those who take part in the activities.

"Clubs like these play a very important role in our communities."
