CONCERNS have been voiced over a crater on a busy road in Bishopbriggs.
Roads chiefs have been urged to carry out a permanent repair to the massive pothole, located beside traffic lights on Beech Road in Bishopbriggs at its junction with Auchinairn Road.
A temporary repair has been carried out, but concerns have been raised that it won’t last.
A spokesperson for Bishopbriggs Community Council said: “This has been a problem since the bad winter weather.
“The council has only tried to partially repair it by dumping tarmac into it. Despite the repair there is still a cable sticking up.
“The fear is that the cable will get damaged and the traffic lights will go out.
“I think the council needs to tackle the pothole problem, especially on this road.”
David Devine, head of roads and neighbourhood services for East Dunbartonshire Council said: “The pothole was made safe on April 20 and will be fully and permanently repaired next week.”
