Police are hunting for an armed robber who threatened two security officers at Moodiesburn.

A man with a bladed weapon attempted to rob the officers during cash transit duties outside the Pivot Centre on Glenmanor Avenue around 2.50pm on Tuesday, August 2.

He fled empty-handed. The security officers were uninjured but badly shaken as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as white, around 5ft 8in in height and of medium build. He was wearing a black leather jacket, grey tracksuit trousers and white trainers with aviator-style sunglasses and a green/khaki coloured woollen hat.

Detective Iain Smith of Coatbridge police said: “We have been carrying out enquiries in the local area and gathering CCTV footage to gather more information on the man responsible for this incident.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious around the time of this incident to come forward.

“In particular I would like to trace the occupants of a white saloon car, possibly a taxi, which was within the carpark area just prior to the incident.”

“Any information should be passed to Coatbridge Police Office through the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.”
