ALL the news from the pews...

ALL SAINTS PARISH CHURCH

The annual Christmas concert is on Tuesday, December 21 at 7pm. On Friday, December 24 at 8.30pm there will be Christmas carols and at 9pm there will be the first mass of Christmas.

On Saturday, December 25 at 11am there will be a Christmas day mass (no Sunday visual mass) and on Sunday, December 26 mass is at 10.30am and 12.15pm.

CAMPSIE PARISH CHURCH

Morning service on Sunday, December 19 will begin at 11am. Worship will be led by Reverend John Spencer. Sunday school and Bible class will also take part in this Nativity service. Creche facilities are available for babies and very young children.

Following this service there will be a time of fellowship with refreshments served in the Main Hall.

CHRYSTON UNITED FREE CHURCH

The service on Sunday is at 11.30am. This week - Luke chapter two and John chapter one - no room at the Inn.

There is a carol service at the church at 2.30pm. Join us to sing and consider the Christmas story and then stay for a cuppa and a mince pie afterwards!

COLSTON WELLPARK CHURCH

The Reverend Bill Moore will conduct the service on Sunday at 11am.

HARESTANES BAPTIST CHURCH

Sunday morning family service at 11am in Harestanes Primary School will be conducted by the Reverend David Vogan.

The Boys' Brigade meet at 7pm in Harestanes Primary, weather permitting.

The prayer meeting and Bible study group meet on Thursday at 7.15pm in the community centre, weather permitting.

There will be a watch night service at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve, weather permitting.

HILLHEAD PARISH CHURCH

Christmas Sunday service on December 19 at 11am will be conducted by Reverend Donald Michael McInnes. A candle lit evening service will also be held on December 19 at 6.30pm. Please come along and enjoy the singing and the carols.

Weather permitting Monday Club is at 6.30pm and brownies is on Tuesday at 6.30pm. On Wednesday the Guild carol evening is at 7.30pm.

IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY

KENMURE PARISH CHURCH

Our Sunday advent family service is at 11am. It will be led by Reverend Jim Gemmell. Creche will cater for our youngest attendees. Tea and coffee are served afterwards in the church hall. The evening service is at 5.30pm as we hold an Agape meal and informal communion.

On Thursday at 7.30pm we meet for a Bible study and prayer in the Williamson Hall.

Notice is given of our annual Hogmannay ceilidh. Details of tickets will be released shortly. Please note it is alcohol-free and usually consists of some live (home-grown) acts, food and ceilidh dancing in a family friendly atmosphere.

KIRKINTILLOCH BAPTIST CHURCH

Our morning services this Sunday are at 9.30am and 11.15am when our children will be participating in the nativity. Creche facilities are available. Our evening service is at 6.30pm when we will be celebrating a classical Christmas followed by hot mince pies, tea and coffee.

On Wednesday the Coffee Lounge will be open from 9.30am-4pm and between noon and 2pm there is an opportunity to receive prayer for yourself or for any situation that is a concern to you.

LENNOXTOWN FREE CHURCH

Services will be held on Sunday at 11am and 6.30pm. The weekly prayer and bible study meeting will take place on Wednesday at 7.30pm.

LENZIE CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP

Our fellowship meets for worship every Sunday morning in Lenzie Scout Hall, Millersneuk Court, Lenzie, G66 5JD, at 11am. Tea and coffee are served before the service from 10.30am. If you are interested please phone 07754 242 507.

LENZIE OLD PARISH CHURCH

This Sunday the Kirkintilloch Band will lead our service of nine lessons and carols. Hot punch and shortbread will be served in the hall after the service.

LENZIE UNION PARISH CHURCH

The service this Sunday at 11am is a family service. There will be a short family service at 6pm on Christmas eve followed by the Watch Night service at 11.15pm. The Christmas day service will be at 11am.

The church is open for a time of quiet reflection on Wednesday from 10am-11am.

MILTON OF CAMPSIE PARISH CHURCH

Tonight (Wednesday) Time to Pray meets in the Manse at 6.30pm-7.15pm. Come early for a light snack.

Sunday worship is at 11am and includes Jigsaw's Christmas story. Soup will be served in the hall after the service.

Join us in the Manse on Sunday, December 19 from 8pm-9.30pm for the final evening to look at the claims, chaos and celebration of Christmas in a distinctive kind of way!

On Friday, December 24, the Watch Night service is at 11.15pm.

The Christmas day service is at 11am in the church.

On Sunday, December 26 morning worship is at 11am followed by tea and coffee in the church.

HOLY FAMILY AND ST NINIAN'S PARISH CHURCH

A vigil mass will take place at 6.30pm on Saturday. Mass will be held at 9am, 11am and 6pm on Sunday.

NEW BEGINNINGS

This evening (Wednesday) prayer meeting is at 7.30pm at the Coffee House. Tea/coffee from 7pm. Special Christmas Sunday service on December 19 at 12pm-1pm at the Coffee House, followed by a Christmas lunch. Tea/coffee from 11.30am. Alex Russell will be speaking at the service with a message entitled 'Good News!' Sunday school for the children is also held during this time.

Carols @ the Coffee House is on Christmas Eve at 7pm. There will be tea/coffee and mince pies served.

RIVERSIDE CHURCH

This Sunday from 11am our prayer room will be open before our service starts at 12pm. This week our theme is 'A saviour' based on Luke 2:1-20.

On Thursday, December 23 we're offering a free grab-and-go coffee and pastry from 8.30am-9am to anyone dropping their kids off at Oxgang Primary.

On Friday, December 24 our Christmas eve service is from 8pm-9pm.

SPRINGBURN PARISH CHURCH

Sunday services at 11am and 6.30pm will be led by Reverend A Ford. During morning worship the Ichthus for children aged three to 15 will meet.

The Bible study and prayer group meet on Wednesday at 7.30pm. The church is open each morning from 10am-noon for prayer and meditation with a short service of Bible reading and prayer at 11am. The Donation tea room will also be open during these hours.

SPRINGFIELD CAMBRIDGE CHURCH

The Cambridge Chapel will be open Monday-Friday from 10am-noon. There will be a vestry hour today (Wednesday) from 10am-11am. There will be no vestry hour on Wednesday, December 22.

There will be a short service of worship in the Cambridge Chapel on Wednesday morning from 11.10am-11.30am followed by tea and coffee served in the Hall of Fellowship.

The ecumenical Bible study group meets on Wednesday evening at 7.30pm in the Cambridge Chapel. This will be the last meeting this year.

On Sunday, December 19, the fourth Sunday in advent, morning worship will be led by Reverend Ian Taylor, assisted by Donald Lawrie. The children of the Sunday School will join us for their Nativity Play during this service. The creche will be happy to look after your child in Room Two (birth to three-years-old) during the service.

After the service, tea and coffee will be served in the Cameron Hall.

Christmas cards and notelets are on sale in the Hall of Fellowship in aid of the Lodging House Mission. Church diaries are also available for church funds.

There will be a Fair Trade goods table in the Hall of Fellowship before and after the service, selling tea, coffee, biscuits, jams and pickles. This is the final opportunity this year to purchase goods.

Jars of Grace will still be gratefully received until Sunday, December 19.

ST ALOYSIOUS

Saturday mass will be held at 6pm. Sunday mass will take place at 11am and the service at Stobhill will be at 2pm.

ST BARBARA'S PARISH CHURCH

A vigil mass will be held on Saturday at 6.30pm. Mass on Sunday will be held at 10am and 12 noon.

ST CATHERINE'S PARISH CHURCH

Sunday mass will be held at 9.30am, 11.30am and 6.30pm.

ST COLUMBA'S PARISH CHURCH

On Sunday, December 19, gift service is at 10.30am. Creche is available in the Lower Hall. Sunday Club and Bible Class will also meet at 10.30am.

Midweek morning worship on Tuesday is at 10am in the Lounge. All services will be conducted by Reverend David M White.

Oasis Coffee Stop is on Thursday from noon-2pm serving light lunches.

ST CYPRIAN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH

Holy communion will be held on Thursday at 10am in the choir vestry followed by tea and coffee.

On Sunday, December 19, Sung Eucharist will be at 10.30am with refreshments in the hall afterwards and the Fairtrade stall. At 6.30pm we will be holding our celebration of 9 lessons and carols which will be 'signed' and we will welcome our friends with sensory impairment to join us.

Tuesday, December 14 will be the final advent meditation at 7pm.

ST DAVID'S MEMORIAL PARK CHURCH

On Sunday, December 19 worship at 11am will have the theme 'Love came down at Christmas' with the young people joining in for the first part before leaving for Sunday schools and Bible class, where they will be busy rehearsing for the Christmas Day nativity.

At 3pm the monthly short seated service, particularly popular with our senior members, will take place in the small hall with Christmas Fayre afterwards in the large hall. Transport will be provided.

At 6.30pm all the youth organisations will present a carol service by candlelight depicting 'Christmas around the world.' Parents and friends will be warmly welcomed. Looking ahead, the Watchnight service will be celebrated on Christmas Eve at 11.15pm, with the theme from the popular carol 'It came upon the midnight clear.'

St David's would like to apologise for the postponement of its Christmas fair on Saturday, December 4 due to the adverse weather conditions. It is hoped the fair will be rearranged in the springtime at a date to be arranged.

Anyone who would like a refund of their ticket money can get it at the church office on weekdays between noon and 3pm or keep the ticket which will be honoured at the Spring Fair.

ST FLANNAN'S PARISH CHURCH

A vigil mass will take place at 6pm on Saturday. On Sunday, mass will be held at 10am and 12 noon.

ST JAMES THE LESS

Tomorrow (Thursday) there is a 10.30am communion service in the chapel followed by fellowship over tea and coffee. On Sunday, the 9am communion service is cancelled. The main service at 10.30am will be in the church. It will be a service of lessons and carols with communion at which the music group will be playing. The theme for the day is 'anticipation.' Afterwards there is tea, coffee and fellowship in the hall.

ST JOHN OF THE CROSS, TWECHAR

Sunday mass is at 10am and 5pm.

ST MACHAN'S

A vigil mass will take place at 5.30pm on Saturday. The Sunday mass will be at 11.30am.

ST MARY'S PARISH CHURCH

Wednesday Welcome service starts at 10.30am in the session house where tea will be served before worship in the church.

Tonight (Wednesday) St Mary's hold their Blue Christmas service for people who, for their own personal reasons, find this time of year difficult. The service will be in the church at 7.30pm.

On Sunday we have our nativity service which will be led by our young people. The family service is at 11am.

In the evening there is the Christingle service. This is at 7pm (remember your torch!) After this service tea, coffee and mince pies will be served in the large hall. The prayer circle meets in the vestry at 7pm on Tuesday.

On Friday, December 17 the Listeners Circle will meet in the session house at 2pm for a Festival of Christmas Music. On Friday, December 24 we will have our Watchnight service which begins at 11pm.

ST MATTHEW'S

On Saturday there will be a vigil mass at 5.30pm. Mass will be held on Sunday at 9.30am,11am and 12.15pm.

ST MICHAEL'S PARISH CHURCH

A vigil mass will take place at 6pm on Saturday. Mass on Sunday will be at 9am and 11am.

ST ROLLOX

The Sunday service at 11am will be led by the Reverend James Torrens.

TORRANCE PARISH CHURCH

Our Christmas family service on Sunday, December 19 is at 10.15am during which the youngsters meet together in creche, junior church and FROG. The evening service is at 6.30pm.

Christmas Eve family service is at 7.30pm and the watchnight service is at 11.15pm. On Christmas day the family service is at 11am.

Carols by Candlelight is on Monday, December 13 at 7.30pm

TWECHAR CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE The Sunday service at the Church of the Nazarene in Main Street, Twechar, is at 11am. Sunday school is at 12.30pm.

WOODHILL EVANGELICAL CHURCH

The family service is on Sunday at 11.25am. This week is the Sunday school nativity play. There is a creche for birth to two-and-a-half-year-olds.

The Sunday at Seven service will be 'Carols for Christmas' taken by the Youth Ministries Team.

CADDER PARISH CHURCH

There will be a Christmas service for all ages next Sunday, the fourth in Advent, in church at 10.30am. Our thanks go to all who donated presents and toilet bags last Sunday.

Tonight, Wednesday, the Men's Club meet in the South Hall at 7.30pm to compete in the annual Christmas quiz.

The Men's Club and the Music Club would like to thank girls of the 92nd Girls Brigade for serving them so well at their St Andrew's Night dinner and after their carol service respectively.
