Arrest in
India over 90s killing of young mum

A 37-year-old man has been arrested in India
in connection with the death of a young North Glasgow woman more than 17 years ago.

Mum-of-one Tracey Wylde was found dead in the bedroom of her
Barmulloch flat in November 1997.

Police said on Monday the man was apprehended in Mumbai on Friday, January 9, and was presently being detained.

A police spokesman added: “Tracey’s family has been informed of
the development and
officers will continue to
liaise closely with
them.”

Police said once legal formalities are completed the man should be sent to the UK.

Tracey was known to have worked in the sex industry.

At the time of her death an extensive investigation was carried out, with more than 2,000 men quizzed and DNA samples taken.

In a Scottish Television documentary aired in 2006, which
investigated her killing, Tracey was described
by friends as “a fun-loving and dedicated mother”.
