A POPULAR male choir will be holding a concert in Kirkintilloch at the end of the month.

Kirkintilloch Male Voice Choir will perform a varied programme of old and new songs in St Mary’s Parish Church on Saturday, March 31, at 7.30pm.

The audience can expect performances of ‘Caledonians Air’, an arrangement of ‘Ye Banks and Braes’.

This piece was sponsored by the session and congregation of Alloway Parish Church after the choir sang there in May for their Malawi charity as part of the ‘Burns and Aw That Festival’.

Kirkintilloch’s 91st annual concert will also feature Glasgow singer Colin Bryce, who is studying at the Royal Welsh College of Music in Cardiff.

Colin will be joined by Scottish Soprano Kirsty Leith.

Last year the choir performed with Cardiff Male Choir at their 90th annual concert – playing to more than 800 people.

Sally McLellan, KMVC musical director, said: “The choir are delighted to provide the opportunity for young artists such as Colin and Kirsty, and their accompanist Paul Slevin, to perform in front of our audience.”

Tickets, priced at £7, for the 91st annual concert can be purchased from any choir member, Flowers by Lynsey in Catherine Street, Kirkintilloch, or by phoning the business manager on 0141 775 2437.

For more information on the group visit www.kmvc.co.uk. The choir was founded in 1921 and has gone from strength to strength.
