The woman, who lives in Waterside, Kirkintilloch, was called by a man claiming to be from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
She said: “He gave a false sense of security by saying he wouldn’t ask for my card or online banking details.
“He was calling about the interest on my account.

She added: “When I called RBS they told me it wasn’t them who had called. However, they said that someone had called the bank pretending to be me, saying they had lost their card and wanted emergency cash. When RBS questioned them they hung up.
“I was put onto the fraud department and cancelled my card.
“I just want to make people aware that this is happening.”
