Bishopbriggs lights up with festive cheer

Thousands of people turned out to celebrate the countdown to Christmas at Bishopbriggs last week.

Provost Una Walker officially switched on the festive lights at the fun event on Thursday, organised by Bishopbriggs Community Council.

She was joined by Gala Queen Lauren Waugh and Gala Princesses Eilidh Chisholm and Freya Togher.

There was a chance for children to visit Santa’s Grotto, a funfair and performances from local school choirs, including Woodhill, St Helen’s and Meadowbank.

Tom Dibble of the community council said: “Around three to four thousand people turned out. We are delighted at the success of the event.”
