A body discovered this morning in a wooded area of Bishopbriggs is believed to be that of missing pensioner Matthew Bowie.
The 83-year-old man disappeared from his home at Gleneagles Gardens 11 days ago.
Police said today formal identification had still to be carried out but it is almost certain to be the senior citizen.
The body was found in the area near Wellington Road by a member of the public around 10am today (Wednesday, February 3).
A police spokesman added: “The death is not being treated as suspicious, however a post mortem will be carried out in due course to establish the exact cause of death.
“Matthew’s family are aware and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“We would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in the previous appeals.”
