THE sun shone at Bishopbriggs Jubilee Gala Day recently, helping to make the event a great success.
Gala queen Evie Dolan was the star of the show, along with princesses Carla Calanti and Pria Virdi.
There were performances from the likes of Carrie Hendry (17) from Antonine Youth Theatre at The Fort Theatre.
Creative Care volunteers dressed in Victorian garb at the gala, which was held between Brackenbrae House and the Fort Theatre.
The well-attended event included bouncy castles, live music, chess and sports competitions, and a street play festival where youngsters tried old-fashioned games such as kerby.
Members of Bishopbriggs-based Kaizen Shoto Budo put on a fearsome display for the crowds.
Children and parents got a chance to play sports such as tennis – ideal for a sunny gala day!
The event was organised by Bishopbriggs Community Council, who had feared this year’s gala could be in trouble after it was left waiting to find out if it had secured vital funding for the event from East Dunbartonshire Council’s jubilee grant scheme.
However, it went ahead after the local authority gave the community council £1,000.
