Getting a retail job is an uphill struggle in today’s tough economic climate, so previously unemployed Iain Morrow is delighted with his new post at the Tesco Extra bakery in St Rollox.

Iain, 45, was referred to employment group Ingeus, which delivers the government’s work programme across Scotland. and gained help writing his CV and honing his interview technique.

Then he was recommended to Iain Farquharson, people partner at Tesco in Springburn – and soon clinched the elusive job he had been seeking.

Coincidentally he also became the 1,000th client to be supported into employment by Ingeus employer partnership coordinator Anthony Phillip.

Iain rates the Ingeus service he received as “brilliant” – and says he always has a smile on his face for shoppers buying his fresh pancakes and crumpets.

The Tesco Extra St Rollox store has employed more than 20 previously unemployed Ingeus clients over the past two years. Ingeus’s employer services team provides a fee-free recruitment service to employers, sourcing and preparing motivated, enthusiastic applicants for vacancies.
