Keen photographers are being given the opportunity to showcase their work in a new competition which is being run by Strathkelvin and Bearsden’s MSP.

Every month, Rona Mackay will pick and display up to three of the best photographs sent in by local snappers.

Snaps of the Month will begin in September 2016.

The competition ‘Snaps of the Month’ will start in September 2016 and aims to support and promote the arts around the constituency.

Winning snaps will be showcased on Rona Mackay MSP’s website and social media where she will comment on what makes the image stand out.

In the future, the MSP will be selecting the best to print and display in her constituency office in Kirkintilloch.

Ms Mackay said: “I want to help give budding snappers a leg up by showing and promoting some of the best work done in the constituency. Photography is a hard nut to crack, so I’d like to try and help my constituents here and also show off the sights and beauty of this magnificent part of Scotland.”

Photos can be of anything, but as long as they are taken within the constituency. Only one photo can be submitted per photographer, and it must include the following:

Name of photographer, name of photo, what/who is in the picture, where was it taken, why it’s a good photograph and when it was taken. Also include your contact phone number and email.

Entrants must live in Strathkelvin and Bearsden, photos must be of something taken in Strathkelvin and Bearsden.

Snaps must be submitted to Rona Mackay MSP’s email, rona.mackay.msp@parliament.scot – to be in for a chance at being featured in September 2016, send them in by August 31, or the last day of the month thereafter.
