TWO caring businesswomen are hoping their local community can help raise cash for a brave cancer-stricken youngster.

Debbie Haldane and Brenda Haldane, who own the Village Cafe in Bishopbriggs, are fundraising for family friend Kane (11), from Johnstone.

Kane has been fighting liver cancer since February last year and his family are trying to raise cash to send him for specialist treatment in Germany.

They have also set up ‘Kane’s Wish List’ to help him achieve as many of his goals as possible - ranging from travelling to New York, to meeting actor David Tennant.

Brenda said: “The Village Cafe has been lucky enough to help Kane achieve one of his goals - to meet the Celtic team - and we have been told that he had a fantastic day doing this but we want to continue fundraising to help him.”

The cafe are now holding a series of tombolas and raffles, as well as collecting items for Kane’s family to auction - including golfing days out and signed football shirts.

Brenda said: “We’d like to thank Bishopbriggs and Cawder Golf Club for giving us rounds of golf to auction off and ask for anybody else who would like to support this cause to get in touch.

“Please donate anything you can for Kane.”

If you can help just pop into the cafe, on Kirkintilloch Road, or call 0141 772 1632.
