PLANS have been developed to build a care village and new homes in Muirhead.
Upland Developments Ltd is proposing to create a care home and around 200 houses, half of which would be assisted living accommodation for the elderly, at a site in Woodhead Road and Cumbernauld Road.
Some of the homes could also be allocated for affordable housing.
The area is one of 39 greenbelt sites across villages in the northern corridor being considered for release for development. Around 60 people attended a recent public exhibition which was held to showcase the plans.
The outcome of the greenbelt decision will determine whether a planning application is submitted.
Strathkelvin councillor Joe Shaw said: “This is a brown field site, rather than greenbelt. I have not seen the plans, but the concept of a care village appeals to me.”
