East Dunbartonshire bank workers recently joined almost 90 of their colleagues to conquer Britain’s highest mountain for charity.

Scott Murray (39), from Lenzie was one of the brave adventurers from Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks taking on the ‘Trek the Ben’ challenge - scaling Ben Nevis to raise over £8,000 for Help the Hospices.

Fellow East Dunbartonshire bank workers Linda Docherty (51) and Gillian Riddell (47) also managed the towering accomplishment.

During the eight hour expedition the group tackled rough terrain, steep climbs and snowy ground before finally crossing the boulder field to the summit cairn, reaching the highest point on the British Isles, at 1,343m above sea level.

Linda said: “It was a challenging but fantastic and very rewarding experience to climb Ben Nevis alongside my colleagues in aid of Help the Hospices. The bank is supporting us by match funding every penny raised, which was a great motivation along the way.”

Jacqui Atkinson, community support manager at Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks, added: “We are very proud of our employees for completing the challenge and raising funds for the valuable work of Help the Hospices.”
