YOUNGSTERS and adults with the community at heart were honoured recently at a special ceremony in Bishopbriggs.

The annual Aquarius/Pegasus/Dragon awards are presented by Bishopbriggs Community Council.

Winners in each of the categorieswere presented with a silver salver.

Pegasus awards were presented to Bishopbriggs Academy under-13 football squad for their success in the Glasgow Cup and to Scottish under-19 footballer, Nicolas Devlin, from Turnbull High.

Receiving Dragon awards were Scottish boys chess champion, Andrew McCusker, from Bishopbriggs Academy, and Audrey Manson, from Woodhill Primary, who coaches the Dragon chess league.

Balmuildy Primary pupil Kirsty McCusker, from the Scottish chess squad, also received a Dragon award.

Aquarius awards were presented to author Theresa Breslin, Balmuildy Primary for having the most pupils as Gala Queen and princesses in the last two years and Turnbull High for carrying out a litter pick in Bishopbriggs Park.

Also successful in achieving an Aquarius award were Jimmy Watson, organiser of the Thomas Muir Festival, Margaret Crane, long term netball coach and organiser of the Bishopbriggs Gala netballevent, and Izzy Howie, long term guide and brownie organiser.
