Pupils from East Dunbartonshire gave a sterling performance at this year’s Christmas Gala Concert at the start of the month.
The annual event brought together talented musicians and singers from schools throughout East Dunbartonshire to perform for a packed audience at the prestigious Royal Concert Hall, in Glasgow.
Prior to the concert, the audience was entertained in the foyer by the Primary Schools’ String Ensemble and Jazz Band.
Guests enjoyed the angelic sound of a 250-strong choir made up of pupils from 32 local schools.
They were also treated to numbers by the Secondary Schools’ Symphony Orchestra.
Guest performances came from the Gaelic Choir of Meadowburn, Merkland School and the East Dunbartonshire Children’s Chorus and Youth Choir.
The programme was packed with festive favourites and popular pieces from a variety of genres.
The festive musical treats on offer ranged from Claude-Michel Schonberg’s ‘Les miserables’ to Take That’s ‘Never Forget’.
Councillor Eric Gotts, convener of East Dunbartonshire Council’s. education committee, gave the closing remarks at the concert and was extremely impressed by the talent displayed.
He said: “Once again the East Dunbartonshire Christmas Gala Concert was a resounding success and the young people played so skilfully and sang so beautifully that you would be forgiven for thinking they were true professionals.
“The orchestra was absolutely fantastic and the choirs nearly brought the roof down with their rousing performances.”
Councillor Gotts added: “It was a truly wonderful evening.”
