A PROJECT to build new homes in the Hillhead area of Kirkintilloch has been given the green light despite over 200 objections.

Councillors sitting on East Dunbartonshire Council’s planning board agreed last night (Tuesday) that Trust Housing Association can build 42 houses and flats on the Meiklehill House site in Lammermoor Road.

The proposals, which included two and three story buildings, attracted a petition containing 220 signatures from members of the public against the plans.
