A POPULAR councillor is preparing to say farewell to the community he has championed for the past five years.

Grant Thoms will stand down as councillor for North East Glasgow and move back to Perth in May.

Councillor Thoms has been involved in a number of high profile campaigns during his term, including the fight to save Gadburn School and Glasgow Housing Association’s secondary stock transfer programme.

He now intends to hold a farewell event at the former church hall in Quarrywood Avenue on Wednesday, April 4 at 4.30pm.

He said: “I am very sad to be leaving. It has been a fascinating experience and I feel very proud to have served North East Glasgow.”
