THERE’S no hiding place for bogus workmen and dodgy cold callers as a new campaign is launched.

East Dunbartonshire Council’s Trading Standards team has joined forces with Strathclyde Police to tackle bogus callers across the district.

A year-long action plan has been drawn up and will include joint patrols to target cruel conmen and women who prey on the elderly and vulnerable.

The first patrol in the area will take place in Kirkintilloch, Lenzie and Bishopbriggs on Tuesday, August 7.

Residents are being asked to call Trading Standards on this date if they have concerns about any trader operating in the areas.

Inspector John O’Neill said: “This is another partnership in the fight against this type of crime.

“If residents have people calling at their door and offering to carry out work on their property they can call the number and officers from Trading Standards will have their businesses checked and confirm their authenticity.”
