A FORMER hotel could be transformed into 80 luxury flats if controversial plans are given the go-ahead.

North Lanarkshire Council will carry out a site visit and hold a hearing into Tulloch Homes Ltd plans to create 80 new flats at the former Moodiesburn House Hotel site in Cumbernauld Road at its planning and transportation meeting on Monday, March 19.

Tulloch Homes lodged its application in December 2010.

Council officials have recommended that the application should be refused because the ‘detailed design and the urban nature of the flatted scheme is considered to be inappropriate and out of character with the local context of the site and its location’.
