POLICE are urging residents to ensure doors and windows to their homes are secure following a spate of break-ins.
More than a dozen incidents in the Merkland Drive area of Kirkintilloch have been reported in the last few months.
The latest break-in took place overnight between Friday, December 10, and the following morning, while the householder was asleep.
The intruder made-off with 100 and caused damage to a window.
PC Marion McAllister said: "We believe it is the same person responsible for the break-ins. The suspect seems to be targeting windows and doors to the back of properties. We would urge extra care to be given to security.
"If anyone has any issues they would like to discuss they can contact the community safety department on 0141 532 4009."
Meanwhile, thieves broke into the Wheatsheaf Inn in Torrance and stole a four-figure sum of cash. The incident took place between 1am and 2am on Monday, December 13. Police say they are following a positive line of enquiry.
