ROADWORKS brought chaos to Bishopbriggs this week.

A section of Kenmure Avenue, near Bishopbriggs Cross, was shut off on Friday night for three days to allow utility works to be carried out.

On Monday the road closure led to queues of traffic building up in surrounding streets during the morning rush hour.

One angry parent said: “It took more than 25 minutes just to get from Turnbull High School back to the main road.

“It’s just ridiculous – why couldn’t they have done this during the September weekend?”

A taxi driver told the Herald: “It’s been chaos all weekend and I’ve not actually seen anybody working on the road. There’s just nothing happening.”

The road was expected to be reopened yesterday (Tuesday).
