Eaglesham girls take best newcomer award
The twins (15) featured in The Extra last week after receiving a tweet of support from Rod Stewart for their first single, Shout Out, released in memory of friend Heather.
The Mearns Castle High pupils set out to boost sales — in aid of mental health charity YoungMinds — by sending their video all over the world, and dad Derek told The Extra that they were delighted to hear from rocker Rod. He added: “It’s not every day you hear from a megastar — it’sbrilliant.”

Hide AdBut the celebrations had to be put on hold as Rachelle and Brittany geared up for a live performance at the Unsigned awards at the Classic Grand — and their hard work paid off, giving the Davies family yet another reason to celebrate.
Proud mum Kim said: “Brittany said they wished to accept the award in memory of Heather, and also their Uncle Sammy, who passed away earlier this year — their biggest fan.”
The single is available to buy on iTunes, Spotify and from online music stores.
Brittany said: “If we can help just one person with Shout Out, all the hard work will be worthwhile.”
