Bishopbriggs Community Council are urging people to attend a public meeting hosted by them tomorrow, Wednesday November 2, at 7pm to get people’s views on East Dunbartonshire Council’s plans for the town’s new community hub.

The community council‘s Dominic Notarangelo said: “We want to find
out the mood of the
community.”

The community council are against the council’s plans for the hub within the library and the town’s War Memorial Hall as they stand, saying they “do not meet the aspirations of local people.”

At a recent meeting of the Policy and Resources Committee, councillors agreed to refurbish the memorial hall first before beginning the “remodelling of Bishopbriggs Community Hub”.

A council spokesperson said on Monday library facilities would decant into the war memorial hall after this refurbishment.

Depute Leader of the Council, Billy Hendry, said: “The absence of council and library services during construction was of great concern to many residents I have spoken to about these projects.

“It is important we deliver these developments with minimal disruption to the local community.”
